Sales Operations Manager

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Sales Operations Manager to join our team in Stoney Creek, ON and contribute to the success of our organization by delivering products and an excellent client service experience. Reporting to the regional General Manager, the Sales Operations Manager is a client-service focused leader responsible for managing the daily operations of the showroom and coordinating the activities related to ensuring order accuracy, availability of material to fulfill orders, and timely delivery of products following secured sales for their designated region. This position is accountable to the company Directors and works closely with Sales Operations Managers in other regions to ensure regional consistency in divisional activities. This position liaises with the regional Sales Manager, Warehouse Manager, and Mill Manager as appropriate. The Sales Operations Manager is accountable for conducting work in compliance with Company procedures, policies, and any applicable legislation including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Essential Functions:

• Manages the daily operations of the showroom including directing, planning, and coordinating Project Coordinators, Inside Sales Representatives, and Estimators.

• Provides senior level project coordination to sales representatives with high profile clients.

• Liaise with the Warehouse Manager and Mill Manager to confirm availability of inventory to fill orders/installations.

• Liaise with the Warehouse Manager to identify and address any conflicts with the shipping schedule.

• Monitors the regional delivery email address for requests and schedules orders into Trello.

• Investigates and resolves or provides direction on additional orders escalating issues to regional General Manager as necessary.

• Liaise with regional Sales Manager to identify and resolve any client order issues.

• Lead the department in building relationships with business clients and partners.

• Ensures Estimators participate in the preparation of bid breakdown summary / work breakdown summary with respective stakeholders upon award of contracts.

• Participates in the strategic planning related to display of merchandise, space allocation, promotional materials relating to the regional showroom in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

• Provide input and assist in developing policies for internal and external clients as it relates to the showroom.

• Identify and make suggestions for improvement within department on an ongoing basis.

• Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism with all team members, clients, and homeowners.

• Represent the company at trade association meetings to promote products.

• Compliance with Riverside policies, Health & Safety Program, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

• Performs ad-hoc projects as directed by the Regional General Manager.

Management:

• Establishing, monitoring, and managing department targets.

• Meet regularly with department personnel to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity.

• Train and manage department personnel to solve day-to-day sales operation and customer service-related issues and reach performance standards/goals.

• Holds team accountable for continuous improvement.

• Accountable for regional departmental employee retention, engagement, and culture.

• Responsible for the performance management of department staff including, but not limited to, annual performance reviews, performance standards, and sales targets.

• Participates in the recruitment process with Human Resources for hiring new department personnel.

• Participates in monthly manager’s meeting.

• Participates in ongoing training and leadership development initiatives and programs.

• Complies and enforces all Company policies and procedures.

Fiscal Responsibility:

• Identifies and implements cost controls for operating and departmental expenditures in compliance with Riverside’s policies and procedures.

• Participates in the preparation of the regional sales operation fiscal budget.

• Accountable for meeting the fiscal budget.

Health and Safety:

• Accountable for the implementation and enforcement of safety.

• Ensures that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.

• Oversees training of departmental employees on safety processes and procedures relating to warehouse operations.

• Works with Human Resources near-miss / accident reporting and supports Riverside’s early and safe return to work program.

Job Specifications:

• 2+ years’ sales experience in a lead capacity or 2+ years’ experience in project coordination

• 2+ years’ managerial experience with personnel responsibilities.

• Previous industry related experience in construction, carpentry, trim, manufacturing, or building materials considered an asset.

• High School Diploma.

• University Degree in Business, Interior Design, or in another related field or College Degree in Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Woodworking Technology, or the equivalent in experience.

• Health & Safety Courses/Training: WHMIS and Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT).

• Knowledge of principles and methods for Sales and Marketing including showing, promoting, and selling products or services as well as sales techniques and sales control systems.

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, meeting quality standards for service and evaluating customer satisfaction.

• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.

• Knowledge of safe work practices including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

• Knowledge of administrative and office procedures.

• Knowledge of arithmetic and other mathematical applications.
