Reporting to the Production Supervisor (Doors/Mouldings), the Woodworker is responsible for constructing doors and millwork products using a variety of woods and materials.  Possessing creative and technical aptitude, the Woodworker applies their knowledge to custom projects within the Mill through following product specifications and utilizing appropriate hand tools and machines to produce high-quality custom pieces while meeting production deadlines. The position performs work in a safe manner and with a high degree of attention to detail.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made.
  • Process wood parts from rough lumber into finished product.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Set-up and feed machinery such as shapers, planers, table saws, presses, miter saws, jointers, sanders, bandsaws.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using appropriate tools and/or machinery.
  • Sand and machine wood parts as required.
  • Assemble door system components.
  • Accurately construct custom millwork such as baseboards, casings, posts, and other trims per specifications.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Inspect wood products for conformance to quality standards, marking and removing damaged and/or defective parts and/or sections and repair or replace as appropriate.
  • Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses or buildings, using paint, hand tools, or paneling.
  • Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
  • Safe use of handheld power tools such as drills, sanders, routers, and nailers.
  • Perform work in a safe manner.
  • General cleanup of mill and work area.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all associated equipment as required and in keeping with company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism with all team members, clients, vendors, and homeowners.
  • Compliance with Riverside policies, Health and Safety Program, and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:  Production Floor (Mill and Warehouse)

Tools:  Power/hand tools, woodworking tools, machinery.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Post-secondary education in Woodworking Technician or Woodworking Technology program, or similar, is preferred.
  • WHMIS and Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT)

Experience:

  • 2+ years experience in woodworking.
  • Previous manufacturing / general assembly production experience is an asset.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Finish Carpenter, Deficiencies will interact daily with clients, builders, and homeowners. The Finish Carpenter, Deficiencies will repair damaged finish carpentry and custom millwork when required with new products/material. The position performs work in a safe manner and with a high degree of attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Installation of doors, trim and hardware, custom millwork.
  • Fabricate and install molding and trim at jobsites using hand tools and power tools.
  • Measure and cut wooden molding and trim to specified size using tools.
  • Read blueprints to determine location for installation.
  • Fasten molding and trim to interior surfaces.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
  • Attend occupied homes for warranty service repairs maintaining high customer service levels.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve repairs in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with homeowners in a professional manner and ensure they are satisfied with the final product.
  • Report & document incomplete or poor-quality workmanship by staff and subcontractors with use of photos & written and/or verbal description to Project Manager.
  • Complete daily service log with completed work.
  • Report to the Project Manager daily with updates on schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: Residential homes; Construction sites.

Tools: Power/hand tools, Carpentry tools, Measuring tape.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Completion of a 3-to-4-year apprenticeship program is preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years skilled finish trim carpenter experience.
  • Customer service experience.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Finish Carpenter, Installer will interact daily with clients, builders, and homeowners. The Finish Carpenter, Installer will install finish carpentry and custom millwork when required with new products/material. The position performs work in a safe manner and with a high degree of attention to detail. This position requires physical labour to install Riverside product.

Essential Functions:

  • Complete finish carpentry installation with a high attention to detail, in designated territory with use of own tools (company will supply/provide select tools on a discretionary basis, as required).
  • Safe use of appropriate tools and equipment to complete the job to company quality and installation standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service to homeowners, builders, contractors etc.
  • Successfully troubleshoot issues when they arise by finding quick and accurate solutions.
  • Work independently to complete installations in an efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively with Account Foremen to ensure that all materials required for installation are accounted for.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, and/or measure houses to fill out takeoff sheets completely and accurately when required.
  • Liaise with Scheduling Coordinator to ensure all schedules are met and that manpower is adequate.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse to ensure all products required for installation are accounted for.
  • Appropriately document all product/installation deficiencies and determine the nature of any required service work.
  • Handle general customer service and inquiries.
  • Other duties as required.
