JOB STATEMENT:

Reporting to the regional Sales Operations Manager, the Estimator is primarily responsible for the preparation of accurate and complete estimates for construction projects and analyze project tenders. Applying an awareness of key elements that can impact an estimate the Estimator will analyze construction documents, specifications, drawings, cost and labour estimates to assemble and finalize bid pricing.  This position works closely with Riverside Sales Representatives, clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the completion of various projects.

Essential Functions:

Estimate Preparation:

  • Complete take-offs and estimate the quantity of trim, doors, door hardware, shelving, and other materials required for commercial and residential projects, ensuring all project scope considerations have been addressed.
  • Review construction documents and analyze blueprint specifications to determine accurate estimated costs.
  • Create, assemble, and finalize estimates.
  • Consult with Riverside sales representatives, clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effective cost reductions, and resolve issues.

Tendering:

  • Act as the main point of contact in the assembly and submission of contract bids.
  • Prepare bid packages for tender requests.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to establish accurate timelines and scheduling.
  • Track quote requests and the status of submitted tenders.

 

Cost Data and Databases:

  • Assist in estimating database maintenance.
  • Proactively gather and store cost data from potential, current, and completed projects.

Other:

  • Review contracts for awarded jobs.
  • Analyze and determine the scope of work for upcoming jobs and potential assignments.
  • Foster good working relationships with subcontractors, customers, vendors, and other partners.
  • Receive all customer specifications including floor plans, elevations, and construction notes from relevant parties, and request any missing information from representatives prior to initiating project coordination.
  • Liaise with relevant parties to ensure required payment terms for each project are satisfied prior to requesting purchasing or production of projects.
  • Prepare turnover packages for other departments.
  • Relay all project specifications to internal supply chain team (purchasing, manufacturing, scheduling) within adequate time frames for completion.
  • Troubleshoot issues to provide solutions and escalating problems as appropriate where solutions cannot be found.
  • Compliance with Riverside policies, Health and Safety Program, and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in civil or construction engineering technology or equivalent work experience in interior building materials and residential industry experience and product knowledge.

Experience:

  • 4+ years experience in estimating and contract bid completion.
