Production Team Member – Level 3

We are seeking a dependable and safety conscious Production Team Member, Level 3 to join our team in London, ON and contribute to the success of our organization.

As the successful candidate, you will possess a high degree of stress tolerance, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy variety in your daily work routine. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Team Member prepares wood parts for the next stage in the manufacturing and/or assembly process for door products and mouldings.  The Production Team Member, Level 3, possesses creative and technical aptitude and is primarily responsible for constructing custom projects in level three positions within the mill. The Production Team Member is an integral member of the production team and contributes to the daily output of quality products.  This position always performs work in a safe manner and with a high degree of attention to detail.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assemble and fasten materials to make doors and door frames, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Accurately construct custom millwork such as baseboards, casings, posts, and other trims per specifications.
  • Produce curved casing and baseboards using specialized shapers, bandsaws and sanders.
  • Produce wood columns, beams, stair parts and other millwork as per shop drawings.
  • Assemble door system components including glass and glazing.
  • Operate the four-sided planer machine and adjust for necessary sizing based on specifications.
  • Operate the straight-line and multi-rip saw to cut material to size based on specifications.
  • Cut wood to length and straighten using jointer.
  • Change belts and/or calibrate the wide-belt sander.
  • Dry-fit stiles, rails, and cores for router carved doors
  • Accurately breakout lumber in accordance with the cut-list ensuring quality in colour matching.
  • Edge glue and laminate solid wood panels.
  • Preparing wood parts for next stage in manufacturing and/or assembly process.
  • Application of veneer and laminates.
  • Responsible for the identification and separation of non-conforming parts or materials and report them to supervisors.
  • Prepare door parts and/or products including priming, painting, or staining.
  • Inspect mouldings and trim to prepare for priming, painting, or staining.
  • Application of primers and stains.
  • Pick product/materials as per sales/work order.
  • Perform quality checks on products and parts. Scrutinize goods to maintain process and product standards.
  • Report/record product defects and damages to the Supervisor and/or appropriate designate.
  • Read and review blueprints and work orders to ensure work is completed to specifications.
  • Work through the required tasks in the production processes.
  • Follow production schedule to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Loading/unloading and operation of equipment in a safe manner such as CNC, moulder, saws, sanders, lifting assist devices.
  • Compliance with Riverside policies, Health and Safety Program, and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • General cleanup of production area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Specifications:

    • High School Diploma is preferred.
    • Post-secondary education in Woodworking Technician or Woodworking Technology program, or similar, is preferred.
    • WHMIS and Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT)
    • 2+ years experience in woodworking.
    • 2 + years experience in wood product manufacturing / assembly.

 

  • Relevant knowledge of safe work practices including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of woodworking tools and machines.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and other mathematical applications.
  • Ability to handle and move objects for production.
  • Ability to read.
