TITLE: Driver Helper/Warehouse Team Member

LOCATION: Waterloo
JOB STATEMENT:
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Driver Helper/Warehouse Team Member is responsible for assisting the Driver by performing tasks involving physical labour to load material/products onto the delivery trucks and unload materials/products at delivery sites as directed to ensure that shipping details and deadlines are met. This position is also responsible for accurate and timely picking and prepping orders that are required to be shipped out from the warehouse. The Driver Helper/Warehouse Team Member is accountable for conducting work in a safe manner and in compliance with Company procedures, policies, and any applicable legislation including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Essential Functions:
- Provides support to the Delivery Driver through various hands-on tasks.
- Move materials/products to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, delivery sites, by hand or using other equipment (i.e. dollies, lifts, etc.).
- Load products onto delivery trucks in a safe manner using the provided equipment as required (i.e. dollies, lifts, etc.).
- Unload materials/products at delivery sites in keeping with shipping details or as directed by the Shipping Supervisor, Site Supervisor, or customer.
- Sorts cargo before loading and unloading.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine material or equipment needs.
- Accurately picks doors/trims and preps orders for shipping/delivery.
- Compliance with Riverside policies, Health & Safety Program, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Compliance with all Company policies and procedures regarding the delivery of goods.
- General cleanup of delivery truck including but not limited to trash, debris, etc.
- Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism with all team members, clients, homeowners, and trades.
- Performs duties as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
Work Environment: Delivery Truck, Construction Sites, Residential Homes, Warehouse.
Tools: Dollies, pallet trucks, lifts, slings.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma is preferred.
- Health & Safety Courses/Training: WHMIS and Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT)
Experience:
- 2+ years’ General Labour experience.
- Previous warehouse or delivery experience is preferred.
Physical Abilities:
- Manual Dexterity – The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Static Strength – The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
- Multi-limb Coordination – The ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting or standing.
- Trunk Strength – The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support pf the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing.
- Control Precision – The ability to quickly and repetitively adjust the controls of a machine, tools, equipment to exact positions.
- Stamina – The ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
- Lifting – The ability to lift 60lbs repetitively.
- Bending – The ability to bend at the knees and waist.
- Climbing – The ability to climb stairs.
- Walking/Standing – The ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
- Reaching – The ability to reach over the shoulder.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes:
- Ability to read.
- Ability to handle and move objects.
